Our Services

Estate Planning

Estate planning is not a ‘one size fits all’ exercise. It encompasses a wide range of considerations and can vary significantly depending on your personal circumstances. Neither is it something to be left for when you are ‘older’ or when you have children. Sound estate planning advice, from experienced and qualified practitioners, is important for clearly and accurate documenting your wishes, dealing with trusts and succession or ensuring your family's future inheritance is protected and dealt with properly. At Bayside Legal, we understand that discussing these things can be daunting. We take the time to listen, advise and work with you to prepare an effective estate plan, providing you with clarity and peace of mind. Our legal team will work closely with you to create tailored plans, including wills, trusts, enduring powers of attorney, along with any other relevant documents or information that is required to enable your estate to be properly administered.

Don’t leave your legacy to chance. Let us help you take control of your estate and safeguard your loved ones. Contact Bayside Legal today to begin your estate planning journey.

Advanced Care Planning

Advance care planning is for people of all ages (so long as you are over 18 and have capacity). Planning for the future is essential for your peace of mind and that of your friends and family. Advanced care planning empowers you to make informed decisions regarding your healthcare preferences, enabling you to document your decisions and wishes in respect of your medical, well-being and lifestyle choices. Part of this process can also involve you having the opportunity to choose any substitute decision makers (enduring guardians), should this ever be required.

Advance care planning can include a variety of documents, such as enduring powers of guardianship, a values and preferences form or an advance health directive. By taking the time to clearly document your health, well-being and lifestyle decisions, it reduces the decision-making load on your family or friends and supports medical teams in providing you with the care you would prefer, wherever possible.

Our experienced professionals will guide you through the process, answer any questions you may have and help you to record your values and preferences clearly.

Guardianship, Administration & State Administrative Tribunal Matters

At Bayside Legal, we understand that navigating matters of mental capacity, guardianship, and administration can be complex and emotionally taxing. Our experienced team is dedicated to providing clear, professional guidance and advice.

We can assist family or friends who are concerned about the well-being and capacity of someone they care about. We can also assist at review of orders, or alternatively, we can support a represented person or a person against whom an application has been filed, where appropriate.

Amongst other things, we can assist and advise on matters in relation to appointing a guardian, understanding administrative duties, or making decisions about financial management for someone lacking capacity. We are here to listen, to help people understand the complexities and to represent individuals, where appropriate. We offer personalised legal solutions tailored to your specific circumstances, providing advice and clarity, enabling you to make informed decisions with confidence.

Trust Bayside Legal to guide you through every step, ensuring your matters are handled with care, dignity, compassion and sound legal advice.

Limited Family Law

Navigating the complexities of family law can be challenging and distressing. At Bayside Legal, we can provide advice and support in respect of limited and simple family law matters.

This includes advice in respect of binding financial agreements, preparing and filing divorce applications and Form 13 Financial Statements with the Family Court and facilitating the distribution of assets according to Family Court Orders.

Engaging a lawyer to assist you in these matters can provide valuable advice, support and ‘breathing space’ at stressful and disruptive times, helping you to get through a period of complex change so that you can move forward with clarity and confidence.

Probate and Letters of Administration

For most people, applying for probate and distributing an estate is not something that happens all that often. Therefore, understanding the requirements estate administration can be unfamiliar. At Bayside Legal we understand that the loss, change and obligations that present themselves at these times can feel overwhelming and unclear. This is when working with an experienced legal team can help bring clarity and clear a path forward. Bayside Legal can provide efficient advice, support and representation to executors to ensure they have all the information they need and the process is as smooth as possible.

Alternatively, if a Will has not been prepared and an estate requires winding up, we can assist you in applying for Letters of Administration, which will result in an executor being appointed with the legal power to deal with the estate. We can guide you in the preparation of the application, or we can take care of the process for you.

Education

Bayside Legal offers education seminars on a variety of legal areas, tailored to your group’s specific requirements. If you are a medical group, wanting to provide some further understanding about advance care planning from the legal perspective, or perhaps you are a church or community group wanting to provide your members with information on estate planning, we would love to speak with you and create a seminar that will engage and inform your audience. To find out more, contact Bayside Legal.

  • Kirsty Sprigg

    B.J., Juris Doctor Candidate

    Law Clerk

As of 2025, Kirsty is in the penultimate year of her Juris Doctor Course (post grad law) at Notre Dame University. Kirsty is a former television journalist and executive producer with more than 20 years of experience. It was while working on the 6pm bulletin for Seven News that she decided to enhance her reporting skills by studying law part time. It only took one semester for her to realise it was time to leave the media and focus on becoming a lawyer. "I spent years as a producer constantly asking our lawyers for advice on our stories. Eventually I didn't want to do what I was doing anymore, I wanted to do what they were doing. They were so inspiring and supportive and I wanted to push myself to see where the degree would take me. As part of my work in the media, I talked to a lot of people while they were experiencing some of the worst moments of their lives. Telling a person's story can be a powerful thing, but being able to actually give people real solutions and change their lives is much better.

Whilst studying law, Kirsty has been involved in a number of programs through Notre Dame University, including the Pro Bono Wills Clinic at Tuart Place in Fremantle, where her journalism and people skills were directly transferrable in assisting her in the valuable work of this Clinic.
